40th Annual W.C. Handy Music Festival

The Music Preservation Society, Inc. and W.C. Handy Festival Steering Committee are excited to work with our incredible coordinators and partners to present this year’s 40th W.C. Handy Music Festival! Celebrate the music with us in the Shoals!

We know how much attendees are looking forward to experiencing live music again, especially after last year’s “Handemic Festival”. The good news is that we’re back. The bonus is that wonderful musical performances and activities from the 2020 Handy Festival can still be enjoyed by visiting our official website. They include the last Handy Festival performances by my friend Harvey “Buddy” Thompson, so we are blessed to share those with you all.

After last year’s “socially connected while physically distanced W.C. Handy Music Festival” however, and with the threat of COVID variants, our Board and Handy Festival Committee want to do everything possible to present a safe series of events as we return to live music. We have pledged to follow guidelines from the Alabama Department of Public Health and we ask that anyone who is unable to be vaccinated wear masks out of respect for others so that everyone can feel safe and confident while interacting at Handy events. Statistics show vaccinations greatly reduce the chances of contracting Covid-19 or its variants. Please be part of the solution and join us in helping the Shoals to reach herd immunity by getting vaccinated.

There are some events that will not be happening, but there are several that are new so this will be a wonderful week. We look forward to seeing you all as we celebrate four decades of the W.C. Handy Festival!
